Gill Fell and Suzanne Brooks are promoting breast cancer awareness this month

THE owner of a Church Road salon’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month has won the backing of Gill Fell who has the disease.

Suzanne Brooks, who owns Vision Hair and Beauty, has seen two of her customers diagnosed with breast cancer in recent years, so wanted to show some support for this month’s Breast Cancer Care national campaign.

Suzanne, who has invested in a pink pair of ghd hair straighteners to help promote awareness, said: “It’s actually not the hair straighteners that are important to us.

“It’s the message to our customers, that's why we have displayed the touch, look, check poster from the breakthrough for breast cancer charity.

“We want our customers to remember to check their breasts regularly as early detection of the disease saves lives.

“And we are having some fun dressing in pink on random days throughout the month also.”

And Gill Fell, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, said: "We are hearing of more and more people with breast cancer and October is a good time to really think about checking ourselves for lumps and changes that may occur and acting on them quickly.

“It’s also a good opportunity to thank all those people who work so hard on our behalf, such as the oncologists, breast care nurses and surgeons.

“We are fortunate in this area that we have such good people and the likes of Marina Dalglish working so tirelessly for us, so thank you all.”
